Kanchanjunga Trekking

This trekking tour leads us to one of the most remote areas in Nepal, where we can find the world’s third-highest mountain, the Kanchanjunga (8,598m), Mt. Kumbhakarna and many others with higher then 7 thousands. Mt. Kanchunjunga is situated at the east and on the frontier with India and the old kingdom of Sikkim. We shall be able to visit two base camps of this mountain, situated at the north and south of the mountain.



Itinerary for 25 days.

Day 01 : Kathmandu to Hille :1990 m. Fly ( 45 minutes) to Biratnagar & drive ( 5 hours ) to Hile. Hile is a quaint "frontier" town with a main street of the busy shops. The town is mixed with Chhitri,Magar , Tamang, Limbu , Rai, & some Bhotia.
Day 02 : Hille to Shidua : Shidua (2237 m) via Jorbhatti village. when the weatheris clear distant snow- capped peaks are visible.
Day 03 : Shidua to Door Pani : panoramic views of Mt. Makalu ..(8356 m), Mt. Chamlang (7207 m) can be seen and ends at Door Pani.
Day 04 : Door Pani to Gupha Pokhari :2980.m The famous rododendron & bamboo , past small ponds & scattered houses to the village of Gupta Pokhari where there are small stone houses,Tibetan prayer flags, along with ( Rai& Limbu )tribal culture.
Day 05 : Gupha Pokhari to Nesum :Crosses the pass at 2980 m, then walk toNesum (1591 m), via Gurja Gaun for the overnight.
Day 06 : Nesum to Taplejung 1772 m
Day 07 : Taplejung to Chiruwa 1171 m
Day 08 : Chiruwa to Sakathum 1626. m The Yalung Glacier on the south side ofKanchanjungha can be seen from this trek
Day 09 : Sakathum to Amjilassa 2400.m
Day 10 : Amjilassa to Kyapra village 2730. m ( day rest ) Good views of the valley & several open yak grazing pastures exist here & clear side-streams provide good water supply.
Day 11 : Kyapra village to Ghunsa village 3480.m
Day 12 : Ghunsa village to Khambachen:View of Mt.Jannu (7594 m) or The Mystery Peak or The terror. Walk toKhambachen..4069. m for the camping.
Day 13 : A rest day is taken here to enable time to relax.
Day 14 : Khambachen to Lhonak : From this walk can be seen Kanchanjungha Glacier and crosses the lateral moraine then to the junction of Lhonak Glacier and the valley. After crossing the junction the trek ends at Lhonak (7409 m)camping
Day 15 : Excursion around Lhonak : 4700.m Day trip to Pangpema, observe the glaciers and mountain views.
Day 16 : Lhonak- Ghunsa Village: 4700. m , Same way back.
Day 17 : Ghunsa- Ramche or Tserang : You have two alternative Lapang- La pass( 5932 m ) or Miring- La pass ( 4805 m ). If you follow the Lapang- La pass you will reach Ramche and if you follow the Miring- La pass you will reach Tserang.
Day 18 : Ramche- Tserang : Trek back viewing Yalung Glacier and the south face of Kanchanjungha, and walk to Tser.
Day 20 : Tseram to Ramite Bhanjyang (3201 m) : Walk to Torontan (2943 m) throughrhododendron forest and rests at Ramite Bhanjyang.
Day 21 : Ramite Bhanjyang- Yamphudin : Walk steeply to Omja Khola and walk the Dub Bhanjyang pass (2357 m) and descend to Yamphudin.
Day 22 : Yamphudin to Ponphe (1652 m) : Walk to Kabell Khola then ascend to Mamanka, aLimbu village & walk to Ponphe overnight camping .
Day 23 : Ponphe to Khunjari 1577 m
Day 24 : Khunjari- Taplejung 2237 m
Day 25 : Fly to Biratnagar or Kathmandu or Drive to Kathmandu
