Lhamo Lhatso and Bon Ri Tours

Lhamo Lhatso and Bon Ri tours

Travelling through Tibet has to be one of the most mystical journeys in Asia, if not the world today. The contrast of the high mountains, the barren Tibetan Plateau, the endless valleys, the color of the people with their traditional wear and the strength of their faith. It is a land where beauty is defined in abstract terms, and where magic abounds in the form of toothless smiles and strong-hearted souls with lovely, warm Tibetan hospitality. To travel through Tibet in the 21st Century is as equal a journey as it was a century ago, a journey of epic proportions and one not to be taken lightly. The days are long and hard, administration is strict and the environment breathtaking and trying.

Trekking Introduction

Tibet - The Roof of the World

A Tibetan Khampa horseman

Lhasa, Central and Eastern Tibet, Including Kham and Amdo

Forbidden for centuries to travelers, Tibet’s ancient civilizations and culture flourished behind a veil of mystery and secrecy, capturing our imagination throughout history. But no longer is this destination for only the most daring explorers.

Despite years of social upheaval, Tibet’s grandeur, magic and mystery still remain undiminished, truly an adventurer’s paradise. Tibet’s breathtaking Himalayan range rising from the Tibetan Plateau; the ancient sacred domain of Lhasa, capitol of Tibet and former home of the Dalai Lamas and some of the greatest monasteries and temples in Tibet; Central and Eastern Tibet, where lush green hills encircle the Kichu and Brahmaputra valleys, acting as guardians to such magical places as Drak Yerpa and Lhamo Lhatso; and the far eastern reaches of fertile Kham and the grasslands of Amdo are but a few places Destination Kathmandu can escort you, either by air, road and by foot. We’ll provide you with all necessary information on equipment and permit requirements. With limited travel season (April-October) reservations are highly recommended to assure air transport availability.
