high and set the hight camp at 5800 meter on a rocky shelf behind a large
vertical rock providing some degree of shelter. Probably the panoramic view seen
from the Mera high camp is one of the best of its kind. We approach the northern
route to the summit which is gradual climbing with an outstanding mountain
panorama always in sight. The view from the summit is one of the finest in the
Himalaya with five 8,000 m peaks visible include Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho-Oyu

Island Peak Climbing
Island peak climbing is beyond simply trekking in Himalayas -
expedition summit thrill, next to the Mt. Everest.
There is no doubt that Himalayan peaks have drown adventures,
climbers and cultural enthusiast since many decades. Many memorable ascents can
be made with limited climbing experience even though many people have a mis-conception
that travelling to the Himalayas as only high altitude climbing and trekking.
Island peak climbing provide an exhilirating Himalaya summit thrill to enter &
explore the world of the great Himalayas, an adventure climbing experience
beyond simply trekking for novice climbers and trekkers alike. Island peak (6189
m) is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal with its alpine PD+
difficulty grading (a little difficult with some technical climb and complicated
glaciers). The Island peak climb is considered physically challenging, but not
technically difficult. A reasonable physically fit, well acclimatised person
having a strong inclination towards adventure can join the Island peak
expedition to scale the top.
Island peak also known as Imja Tse peak is an extension of the ridge that comes
down from the south end of the Lhotse shar, situated hardly 10 kilometers away
from the Mount Everest. This peak was first ascent in 1953 by British expedition
team as preparation for the Everest climb and even today the Island peak
climbing is a first step before any summit attempt of giant peaks in Himalaya.
Island peak expedition combines with acclimatisation hike through the famous
Khumbu valley to Everest base camp and Kalapathar where you find yourself just
next to the Mt. Everest and Khumbu Icefall. We organise a special climbing
training at Island peak base camp instruct by our experienced climbing guide to
ensure all of you have required climbing skills to ascend the top safely and
successfully.
Checking all the gears and exploring the sights and sounds of bustling Kathmandu,
we take an exciting flight to Lukla airstrip to start our rugged adventure to
Island peak climbing expedition with Everest base camp. We climb along the Bhote
Koshi to the Sherpa homeland trading center of Namche enjoying their friendly
hospitality and witnessing the most dramatic Himalayan sceneries on earth.
Unlike other adventure companies we trek different and longer route in our way
to Everest base camp and Island peak via Khumjung and Phortse village allowing
more time for proper acclimatation and no doubt more exploration. The summit
climbing day starts early in morning with an easy scramble along a rock ridge to
a glacier and above there is a steep snow headwall leading to the summit.
Mountain Monarch climbing guides fixed rope to have safe ascend with Jumar &
Harness for the strenuous section climb up 50 - 60 degree face about 100 meters
to the summit ridge. Seen from the summit of Island peak, the giant mountains,
Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar
(8,383m) make a semi circle in the north. The views of Makalu (8475m), Baruntse
(7129m) in the east and famous expedition peak of Amadablam (6812m) in the south
